WASHINGTON, D.C., Weds. June 7, 2006: Several nationals of Caribbean countries, who currently serve in the U.S. military, are set to be sworn in as American citizens on Friday.
The soldiers are among 150 military personnel from 45 countries around the world who will become naturalized at a ceremony to be administered by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Director Emilio T. Gonzalez. It is set for June 9 from 10 a.m. on board the aircraft carrier USS George Washington, homeported in Norfolk, Va.
The group includes nationals of Cuba, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Montserrat, St. Lucia and Trinidad and Tobago.
Since September 11, 2001, USCIS has naturalized 24,745 military service members.
