CaribWorldNews, WASHINGTON, D.C., Mon. Mar. 3, 2008: Caribbean countries hardly produce illegal drugs yet remain major transit points for drug dealers seeking to get their merchandise to the U.S. and European markets.

That’s the conclusion yet again of the U.S. State Department as it released another International Narcotics Control Strategy Report on Friday in Washington. The islands continue to serve as northbound transshipment points for cocaine and increasing amounts of heroin coming from South America; chiefly Colombia and Venezuela, said officials.

Hardbeatnews, KINGSTON, Jamaica, Fri. June 29, 2007: South Florida-based, Jamaican-born pilot Barrington Irving has been called an inspiration to Jamaica and the world by the country’s Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller.

Simpson Miller’s comments came as the 23-year-old completed his historic flight around the world Wednesday and returned back to the Miami airport on a plane he had made.

Kingston, May 19, 2007 (Panos) - Jenna Bush, the 25 year old daughter of United States of America President George Bush, spent two weeks in Jamaica recently on a fact finding mission exploring issues concerning Jamaican children.

Bush, who arrived in the island on April 28 and left on May 8, met with a number of organisations which focus on child rights and HIV including Panos Caribbean’s Youth Journalist group in Kingston.
